So far, Kisses That Count has partnered with five charities to create our very special grassroots projects. As we grow, we will be seeking new partner charities with new projects to add to our site - if you are a charity with a suggested project contact us
To help you navigate this page, our partner charities are listed below, under ‘People', ‘Environmental' or ‘Wildlife'. Great - now you can check out as much information on our charity partners as you like!

 The Ubuntu Education Fund
The Ubuntu Education Fund, South Africa, currently provides 3 exhilarating projects for Kisses That Count, through their Health Initiative: the goals of the program are to prevent HIV infection and onward transmission & to assist families coping with HIV/AIDS through integrated services providing access to treatment and support.
Founded in 1999, The Ubuntu Education Fund is based in the townships of Port Elizabeth, dedicated to providing vulnerable children and families with an empowering environment, with access to services and opportunities.
Ubuntu has 53 staff / volunteers, who reach over 40,000 children, youth and adults with their HIV prevention, care and support services.  Ubuntu's goal is the development of dynamic health & education
initiatives that originate in the communities they are designed to serve: staff are from the townships where Ubuntu works and community members serve on Ubuntu's Boards of Directors and Advisors. Go to Ubuntu projects.

 Stars of Hope.
Stars of Hope, a small Cornish / Kenyan initiative, currently provides 3 life-giving projects for Kisses That Count.  All 3 projects focus on helping the Stars of Hope Children's Centre in the destitute, dangerous Dandora slum, on the edge of Nairobi.  The centre began in 2001 and the number of children needing a place has risen dramatically - it now cares for 130 children aged 6 months to 15 years old - who are either orphaned, infected/affected by HIV aids and other diseases, single parented, or simply have no safe place to go due to extreme poverty at home.
At the Centre the children are fed, medically treated, educated & cared for as best possible with donations raised in the UK; funding also covers rent & occasionally stretches to extremely modest wages.  In 2005 the centre was recognised as an official organisation by Nairobi social services; yet the centre is run by mostly unpaid, desperately poor volunteers.  Often there are not enough funds to provide even one nutritious meal per day, so the children remain malnourished and are susceptible to illness.  Stars of Hope wishes to create a continual, reliable life support system for the 130 children at the centre.
Future aims are to open a desperately needed purpose-built Orphanage Centre in Dandora, with a sister centre in Cornwall, which will involve and encourage young volunteers in both areas - sharing life, education and communications between the two communities, enabling people to bring hope to each other.  Stars of Hope is currently a limited company in the process of becoming a UK registered charity.

 Carefree.
Carefree currently provides one project based in Cornwall, UK for Kisses That Count.  Carefree was set up to provide support to young people who are, or have experienced, being in care in Cornwall. Growing up in care should not leave young people disadvantaged in any way and Carefree works with young people to ensure they have the same positive start in life as any other young person.  Carefree works closely with young people & their foster carers to make sure that they have fun and socialise with others in similar circumstances.  Carefree young people work together to learn the skills they will need to live independently as adults. For example, during the summer holidays (2006) 25 young people aged 13-19 spent a total of 4 weeks at a Cornish adventure centre, experiencing a range of other outdoor activities including canoeing, abseiling and camping overnight.  Carefree teaches life-skills vital for adult life - like learning how to cook, using a laundrette, getting round Cornwall on public transport and opening a bank account!  All activities are planned & co-delivered by young people in care, with youth worker back-up. Environmental:

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT).
CAT currently provide 3 earth-protecting projects for Kisses That Count.  CAT is Europe's foremost environmental education centre, working tirelessly to engage, inspire, inform and enable people from all walks of life to live more sustainable lives, in order to tackle the most important environmental challenge humanity has ever had to face - Climate Change. Staff and residents at CAT have been living and working exclusively with sustainable technologies and practices for over 30 years; leading by example, CAT seeks to show that living sustainably is not only possible but can provide a better quality of life, too.
With three decades' expertise in sustainable living technologies, CAT has become a world-class training resource, providing a unique environment in which to learn about the issues of sustainability both in theory and in practice. With an enviable reputation for the provision of high quality technical education in all aspects of sustainable development, the demand for CAT's courses has risen rapidly over recent years as awareness of sustainability issues has grown. The widespread increase in demand for practically based, expert training and tuition in sustainability issues has meant that CAT's physical space is now at its limit, and new facilities are urgently needed.
