Wales Institute for Sustainable Education (WISE)

A major new state-of-the-art environmental institute for sustainable education. Be part of it!

In order to expand the Centre for Alternative Technology’s vital education services, CAT is establishing a major new institute for sustainable education: WISE@CAT. Total Cost of WISE is £6.2 million: £5 million has already been raised. WISE will provide a state-of-the-art environmental education and conference centre in the heart of Wales, designed to cater for the ever-increasing demand for tuition and courses in the areas of sustainable development that CAT excels in.

The WISE initiative will
‘roll-out the skills and
experience gained at CAT over the past three decades to help build the knowledge and expertise needed in the UK to effectively tackle climate change'.

As Europe’s greenest education building, WISE will give course and conference participants the opportunity to learn about a wide range of sustainability issues in an environment that visibly embodies the principles being discussed.

As with all of CAT’s projects, the WISE buildings will demonstrate the very latest innovations in sustainable building materials and techniques, energy efficiency and monitoring, water and waste treatment, creating an exemplar of sustainability and a cutting edge demonstration of best practice for other organisations to follow.
