The main threats to Columbian Sloth's are habitat destruction, fragment- ation and the illegal pet trade. The aims & objectives of this UNAU Sloth Project are:• to rehabilitate sloth's confiscated by local authorities. • to conserve local species of Columbian sloth • to relocate ehabilitated sloth • to educate against trade in sloth's & keeping them as pets. Sloth's cannot escape danger, such as hunters, because they move so slowly. When in illegal captivity, they swiftly become ill. Currently, the sloth project does not have veterinary equipment which is desperately needed. | |||
